I hear ya! I was the same way pre Wrath. I grinded all the money I could on my level 70 and worked a few alts, but nothing major. I got bored and dropped off the face of Azeroth for about 4 months.

Now, I'm back grinding a different character to 80 in the hopes of really destroying a few Horde players. (I play on a PvP server, which is to say, I love to gank people!) I didn't think I would like Northrend, but since I started working my Paladin over there, I've decided it's a pretty good area, especially now that everyone who is anyone has already leveled up to the boring End Game. Players leave me alone and I take my time questing and seeing the sites without too much danger of getting slaughtered by the random horde.

I think the trick to not being bored is to get the expansion months after it's released as opposed to as soon as it comes out. This will give you time to enjoy it rather than blast though it.
